Turkish Cultural Center Massacushusetts (TCCMass) and Turkish American Bussines improvment and development ( Tabid New England) organized the 4th Annual Turkish Cultural Day at the Massachusetts State House on June 5th, 2013.
The event was a showcase of rich mosaic Turkish culture and traditions. Speaker of the House Robert A. DeLeo, State Representative Harold P. Naughton, State Representative Michael A. Costello and Counsel General of Turkey to Boston Burak Kararti were among the distinguished speakers. Council of Turkic American Associations President Furkan Kosar also attended the event. There were over 300 guests in attendance.
The event started with a welcome speech by TABID New England Board President.The event continued with opening remarks by Speaker of the House Robert A. DeLeo. Speaker DeLeo stated that, “It is the pleasure to be here at the Turkish Cultural Day, I like to thank Turkish Cultural Center MA for putting together this event.It my believe, the events like this to recognize the Turkish Cultural Day celebrated our state can only bring us together as a community” Followed by speeches from State Representative Harold P. Naughton, State Representative Michael A. Costello and Counsel General of Turkey to Boston Burak Kararti. TCCB presented a gift to each speaker. Complimentary Turkish food and coffee was served where the participants also enjoyed chatting with Turkish Community members. Humeyra Ozcan, a local artist demonstrated live water marbling (ebru), a classical Turkish art for the guests.
